Youth for Christ eventually developed into a ministry aimed specially at high school teenagers, but not before it helped launch the evangelistic ministries of Billy Graham, Cliff Barrows, Bob Pierce, Torrey Johnson, Bob Cook, Robert Evans, and many others.

Looking back half a century later, historians began to see the 1945 Soldier Field rally as a symbol of change. It was a highly-visible indicator of the vigorous entry of a new generation of Evangelical Protestants into American society and culture. It was also representative of a bold initiative among U.S. Evangelicals to use new methods and organizations to take the Gospel of Jesus Christ to North America and around the world. Below are links to excerpts from recent works by Joel Carpenter, Mark Shaw, and Dan Crawford which put the rally in historical perspective.
